islesinfo.com update

I need to address a couple of major happenings with the site.

Firstly, I apologize to all who followed islesinfo.com regularly for the lack of updates to the site. I know the site has probably lost alot of viewers. All I have to do is check out the site stats to realize that. The only excuse I can offer those who religiously checked out the site to get their Islanders fix is that basically, other things in life have limited my ability to maintain the site on a regular basis.

To be perfectly honest, this site has always been a one man show. I have never made any money off of it. I totally believe that if I was able to gain some source of income off of it I could provide Islanders fans with perhaps something really special as an alternative to the Islanders official website. But that takes alot of time and effort as well. And that is something I do not have as a normal every day working Joe along with other life responsibilities. With the time contraint I have often been frustrated with the site and what direction to take it in. Redesigning it as well takes time. There have been times in the past when I have wondered if I should give up the site, maybe just have a blog or mailing list.

All that said, I have always believed that islesinfo.com serves as a great source for historical information on the team. That makes it an always relevent site in my eyes. I am still always working on the site, even if it's not updated daily with breaking game news. I try to update all the statistical data after every game is played. I have also added some widgets, which have made some things alot easier to provide on the site.

Now, another major bit of news. Recently, my web provider of 7 years had their servers go kaput. So for a week from October 12th to the 19th islesinfo.com was down. With no sign in sight that the provider was going to return service, I had to make the decision to find another host. I have, but unfortunately my previous provider could not provide a proper service to allow me to make a backup of the site. Therefore, I am currently in the process of rebuilding it from my own files.

So unfortunately again the site right now is partially up. But I have many many many more to restore. And with time constraints it is taking a while. But I will get it all back up.

So, for those still interested I hope this serves as some explanation for what has been going on with islesinfo.com.
